On a recent weekend getaway we had this fabulous cocktail at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington. It was delicious. So refreshing and not too sweet like most lemon drop cocktails can be. The bartender used a huckleberry vodka, but the addition of huckleberries muddled in the glass made it truly taste like the berries. Give this a try ~ it’s great springtime cocktail! And if you’re in need of a good vacation getaway, check out Skamania Lodge ~ just an hour or so from Portland!. https://www.skamania.com/columbia_river_gorge_hotel/
Huckleberry Lemon Drop Cocktail ~ our version!
- 1 T fresh or frozen huckleberries
- 1.5 Wild Roots Huckleberry Vodka
- .75 oz. Cointreau
- .75 oz. lemon juice
- 1 C ice
- Lemon rind twists
Muddle the berries a bit in the bottom of your glass ~ leave some whole. In a shaker add ice, vodka, cointreau, lemon juice. Shake and strain, serve neat in a martini glass. You can sugar the rim if you need a bit more sweet. Garnish with a twist of lemon.
Cook’s Notes: If you can’t find huckleberries, this cocktail concept would adapt well to blueberries or raspberries or marionberries. Just sayin’
This looks delicious, Josie! You can also buy frozen wild blueberries at Freddy’s and they would work well in this cocktail. They are much smaller than regular blueberries and naturally sweet.
This is delicious!! A little dangerous because it’s just that good! I used Blue Ice Huckleberry Potato Vodka and I’m in love!
Oh, I am so glad you like this cocktail. I haven’t had one in months. Think I’ll put that on my list for this coming weekend. Thanks for posting!
We were just at the Skamania lodge. I loved this cocktail. Thank you for the recipe. Just found my Wild Roots Huckleberry Vodka today.
Thank you for the post Mary. Let me know what you think of this version of their Huckleberry Vodka Cocktail. I haven’t had one in almost a year! Might have to breakout our huckleberry vodka this weekend 🙂
