There’s something about aphrodisiacs…
Some experts say that aphrodisiacs work in two ways: generating sexual desire by working on the mind and some create desire because they affect parts of the body that become aroused. A good example of the latter is chili peppers. Chili will increase blood flow (often making your body literally feel hot), while simultaneously boosting your libido. Probably why there is such heat seeking food trend these days. We’re not claiming to know much about these love-boosting foods, these foods of the gods, these foods that apparently increase libido, performance, fertility and make you appear thinner when you look in the mirror. We just know that most of these food identified as aphrodisiacs are also identified as super foods. And they make our soups and broths laste good so we use them all the time. But because it is Valentine’s Day week, we’re playing along and highlighting aphrodisiacs cause it’s fun.
Our soups this week are heart-healthy – , they each have a red broth – cause it’s Valentine’s Day week, and we are emphasizing the super foods in each soup that fall into the aphrodisiac category – cause its Valentine’s Day week. We’re souper excited about the Pozole Rojo con Pollo. Can NOT wait to make this one! The need for more chicken broth continues!! And our minestrone is unlike any you’ve probably ever had before. We’re creating two versions ~ one of which is vegan and gluten free. Our last soup is new. Ginger Coconut Tomato with curry spiced pepitas. nuff said.
In the Additional Information boxes shown on the menu page, you’ll find some info on nutrition and a little about the highlighted aphrodisiac in each offering. There are way more aphrodisiacs in the soups such as garlic, ginger, citrus, herbs, and celery (yes, even boring old celery is a medically recognized aphrodisiac), we just chose one to write about to make you think about what you’re eating and what it’s doing to your mind…
